The Czech identity card in digital transactions

The Czech identity card, known as Občanský průkaz, combines a national identification document with electronic functions. Its chip provides a means of working with digital identity rather than relying solely on the name, photograph and other information visible on the card.

For a signing request, the relevant distinction is between identifying a person and authorising that person's approval of a document. Showing a card, submitting an image of it and producing a certificate-backed digital signature are different actions. The electronic signing method uses the relevant credentials to connect the person with the document approval.

Prepare for electronic document signing

Have access to the card and the electronic credentials required by the selected signing method. Card issuance, activation and certificate-management questions belong to the relevant issuing or trust service; receiving a document in Nota Sign does not replace those processes.

Before approving a transaction, check that the identity shown in the signing journey is yours and that you are reviewing the intended document. An identity-card method should not be treated as a company seal merely because the document concerns a business transaction.

Sign with the Czech ID Card in Nota Sign

Nota Sign includes the Czech ID Card in its supported signing methods. Begin by opening the signing request and completing the required document fields. Continue with the card method and follow the credential and approval instructions presented in the signing journey. Once authorization succeeds, return to the document workflow to complete the signature.

The Czech Ministry of the Interior provides official identity-card information. Use its guidance to check the electronic functions of your card before arranging any device setup or certificate activation.
