Austrian digital identity and mobile signing

ID Austria developed from Austria's Handy-Signatur and Bürgerkarte services. It allows people to identify themselves online and use digital services, with electronic signature among its applications. A linked authentication factor, such as the ID Austria app, is used to confirm an identity interaction.

The ID Austria/A-Trust Signatur method brings that identity context into a mobile qualified electronic signature journey. A-Trust supplies the signing service, with the signing identity available through the A-Trust Signatur app. Establishing identity and approving a particular document are separate parts of the process.

Prepare the appropriate identity route

The described method offers two routes: authenticate using an ID Austria account, or complete enrollment through A-Trust's remote identification process. Have access to the account and authentication factor relevant to your chosen route, and complete the identification required for the signing credential.

For the A-Trust Signatur route, keep the app available for the signing interaction. An ID Austria authentication confirms identity for an online service; the document request still needs the signature authorization associated with it. The official ID Austria website explains the national identity service and its linked authentication factors.

Authorize the document in Nota Sign

Nota Sign supports ID Austria/A-Trust Signatur qualified electronic signatures. Open the request in Nota Sign, review the document and complete the required fields. Proceed with the configured method, follow the applicable identity route and authorize the document signature when requested.

Complete the transaction in Nota Sign after the provider interaction. This keeps the digital signatures tied to the documents you have reviewed while the identity and certificate services perform their respective roles. Use the method specified in the request so that your identity preparation matches the signing service being used.
