Digital certificates in Lithuania's identity card
Lithuania's Asmens tapatybės kortelė is issued by the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior. Its embedded chip holds personal data and digital certificates, bringing electronic functions to the national identity document.
The card supports electronic identification and qualified electronic signatures (QES). It is used with state and commercial services, where identifying the holder and approving a document are separate tasks. The digital certificate gives the card a signing role beyond its use as a physical identity document.
Choose the physical-card route
