A signing identity carried by the SIM
Lithuanian Mobile-ID uses the SIM card's secure environment to support electronic identity and document signing. Mobile network operators work with trust-service providers to deliver the service, giving the phone a role as an identity tool as well as a communications device.
Mobile-ID is used across government, banking, healthcare and other online services in Lithuania. It supports qualified electronic signatures (QES) as well as authentication. The same identity can serve these different purposes, but access to an online account and approval of a document remain separate requests.
Prepare your Mobile-ID credential
Have the phone and SIM associated with your Mobile-ID service available before signing. The relevant preparation is the operator-issued electronic identity credential; a mobile phone number alone is not a signing identity.
This SIM-based method differs from the Lithuanian physical ID card and from identity services that use a dedicated downloadable app. Credential setup and any account assistance belong to the Mobile-ID service and relevant operator. Complete that preparation before you try to authorise a document, and use the method that matches the credential you hold.
Sign through Nota Sign
Nota Sign supports Lithuanian Mobile-ID for document signing. Open the document in Nota Sign, review its contents and supply your required information. Proceed with Lithuanian Mobile-ID as the configured CA method, then respond to the authorisation requested through your Mobile-ID service.
Complete the remaining document steps in Nota Sign and check that signing is finished. The SIM-based identity supplies the approval credential, while Nota Sign remains the place for document review and completion. Keep the signing request tied to the document you have just reviewed.
