MitID

MitID is Denmark's national digital identity system providing secure online authentication and electronic signing.

Nota Sign document signing with MitID

Danish identity within a signing journey

MitID is used by Danish residents to identify themselves to banks, public services and private online platforms. Its identity function can also take part in an electronic document workflow, connecting an online action to the person who approves it.

Nota Sign supports document signing with MitID. The identity confirmation and the document approval have related but different purposes: one establishes who is acting, while the other concerns the document being signed. A successful MitID login should therefore be understood in the context of the signing request, rather than as completion of every document step.

Get MitID ready before approving

Use your own MitID and make sure your usual means of approval is ready. The official service provides guidance for getting started, activation, setting up a new phone or tablet, and recovering a forgotten user ID. Address those account-preparation needs before beginning the document request.

For people using the MitID app, follow the approval prompt currently displayed by the service. The official MitID website links to app guidance and account help. Its broader range of authentication tools does not change the need to follow the method presented in your signing journey.

Finish the electronic signature in Nota Sign

Review the document in Nota Sign and complete the fields that require your input. Continue with MitID as the configured method, then authorise the identity action requested by the service.

Follow the remaining signing steps in Nota Sign and check the document's completion state. This preserves the connection between the verified identity and the document you intended to approve, while keeping the document workflow in Nota Sign throughout review and completion.
