Norwegian Bank ID

Norwegian BankID enables secure authentication and electronic signing across banking, government, and private-sector services.

Nota Sign document signing with Norwegian Bank ID

A bank-issued identity for Norwegian services

Norwegian BankID connects an identity issued by a bank with online authentication and document signing. It is used across Norwegian banking, public services and private-sector transactions. For recipients who already use BankID, that existing identity can be part of a digital document approval in Nota Sign.

The Norwegian service has its own issuing banks, app and support arrangements. Use the Norwegian BankID option associated with the request and the credential issued for that service. This is especially relevant when working with recipients who use other country-specific BankID services.

Activate the BankID app before signing

BankID's official guidance explains that downloading the app is followed by activation: the app must be connected to the BankID issued by your bank. Its activation guidance covers several supported methods, including identification with a passport or national identity card.

Before opening the signing authorization, check that you can use your BankID and that the app is activated if it is your chosen authentication method. BankID may ask app users to confirm their identity by scanning an identity document. Follow any request in the official app.

For password or activation problems, consult the BankID website. The bank that issued your BankID handles customer enquiries that its help guidance cannot resolve.

Sign through Nota Sign with Norwegian BankID

Read the document in Nota Sign and complete the required fields. Continue with Norwegian BankID, complete the authentication requested for your credential, and authorize the document signature. Return to the Nota Sign workflow as directed and finish the request.

Norwegian BankID digital signatures use the identity service in a document-signing context. An authentication response establishes your identity; the signing authorization relates that identity to your approval of the document.
