Use the Smart-ID account that supports signing
Smart-ID, developed by Estonia's SK ID Solutions, brings online identity and document approval to a mobile app. The service is used across the Baltic region for banking and other digital services. Its qualified account supports qualified electronic signatures under the EU eIDAS framework.
Account level matters when signing a document. Smart-ID's qualified signing capability belongs to the appropriate account, so check that yours supports the signature requested in Nota Sign. Being able to authenticate to a service is useful, but it does not by itself establish that the account is ready for qualified signing.
Prepare the app after a device change
Keep your Smart-ID app up to date and confirm that the account you intend to use is active on your device. Smart-ID's official guidance says that a new or reset phone requires registration of a new account. Complete that preparation before responding to a document request.
The provider offers several registration routes. Its biometric route uses an identity document with an electronic chip and a phone with NFC support. Use the route appropriate to your circumstances, following the official Smart-ID guidance. That website also explains account renewal and digital signing.
Authorize Smart-ID digital signatures in Nota Sign
Read the document in Nota Sign, complete the required fields and continue with the Smart-ID signing method. Check the request presented in the app and complete the requested signing authorization. Approve only the transaction you initiated for the document.
Finish the Nota Sign workflow and check the resulting document. Smart-ID provides the qualified signing credential and authorization, while Nota Sign carries the document review and completion. Follow the prompts for signing; the provider's QR-code login instructions describe authentication and should not be used as a substitute for the document-signing authorization.
