The identity behind a SPID signing request
SPID stands for Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale. An accredited identity provider issues the credentials that a person uses to access participating Italian public and private online services. In a document-signing journey, those credentials establish the signer's identity; the signing service supplies the function that connects that identity to approval of the document.
This distinction matters when using a familiar public-service login for a contract. Recognising the person and recording that person's agreement are separate parts of the transaction.
Prepare your SPID credentials
Use an active SPID identity that you can access through your chosen identity provider. If you need to activate one, the official SPID website explains how to compare providers and choose an online or in-person identity-recognition route. Complete the provider's identity checks before relying on the credentials for a signing request.
Existing users should be ready to complete the authentication requested by their own provider. SPID is a shared identity system, so the authentication experience depends on the provider that issued the identity.
Use SPID to sign in Nota Sign
Open the document in Nota Sign, read its contents and complete the required fields. Continue with the configured SPID signing method and authenticate with the identity provider associated with your credentials. Follow the authorization requested for the document, then complete the signing process in Nota Sign.
Nota Sign supports advanced electronic signing through this SPID method. A successful identity login is one step in that process; check that the document workflow has also completed. The signature's classification depends on the signing service and certificate involved. SPID authentication by itself does not establish that a qualified electronic signature has been created.
