A familiar identity for digital approvals
BankID combines identification and electronic signing in a service used throughout Sweden. Its official website describes uses across online and physical interactions, including identification and digital signatures. For a document recipient, the relevant action is approving the particular document presented for signature.
BankID can participate in different kinds of requests, so recognising the service name is only the starting point. Read the request to understand whether you are identifying yourself or authorizing a signature.
Have your BankID application available
Prepare an active Swedish BankID and access to the mobile or desktop application you use with it. You need to be able to respond to the BankID request while working through the document in Nota Sign. Use the identity belonging to the person named as the signer.
If access to your BankID needs attention, follow the provider's support instructions before approving the document. The application handles the BankID interaction; Nota Sign provides the document and its signing workflow.
Sign the document through Nota Sign
Review the document and fill in the required information in Nota Sign. Proceed with Swedish BankID, check the purpose of the resulting request and complete its requested authorization in your BankID application. Finish the document process in Nota Sign after that interaction succeeds.
Advanced and qualified signature routes
Nota Sign supports advanced electronic signatures and qualified electronic signature workflows using Swedish BankID. The qualified route includes a Qualified Trust Service Provider and its signing service. This additional trust service is what distinguishes that route from using BankID for identification or advanced signing alone.
The signing method configured for the document determines the route you follow. A BankID authentication does not, on its own, identify the completed signature as qualified.
